Domainthe network mystery and suspense
HistoryReveria.silentcross.net - I had been influenced to work on sites, particularly fanlistings from various collective owners. Since I lacked the benefits to work solo, I had to be hosted. My site idea bloomed with the fanlisting collective on May 2006. Okay, that's a lie, I made websites before in free hosting areas, but since all of them sucked, I won't bring that up. Besides, I forgot all the names. Anyway, I was kindly hosted by the very sweet Haia (no pun intended). In fact, this host was very reliable - she answered all my calls and all. Problem is, I hate having to depend on people, because I feel useless. So I then decided it was time to be independent. Thus the parent nagging began.Rurushu.net - Starting April 2007, my nagging works. Using monthly paymounts, I bought both the domain and hosting via DreamHost. I thank all my friends, as well as my always supportive family, for their support on choosing a host, as well as encouraging me to make it this far. Things got a bit wacky at first because I was so confused how the system worked. DreamHost was the only host at that time who allowed paymounts via money order, so it started shaking at first. Right now, there isn't much to talk about. Barely any real sites are opened, just my collective and two shrines (and one in the process of being complete). It was a lot to offer, especially for my parents. In my circumstance, the idea was going to be rejected quickly. But my dear mother has kindly allowed to pay for the monthly fees. Everything has successfully moved (aside from some annoying errors I had to clear). I had a few problems at first getting used to it, but the team at DreamHost kindly replied within that day and gave me a free month to make up for the time lost. It took me several days to actually complete the site to be opened. On April 2008, I bought a new domain Sol-Aria.org, which currently is being worked on as a personal site, as well as a host for some sites including Heaven's Not Enough. Origin of a NameRurushuNET - It was such a hard choice to find a perfect name. To make a pretty URL, I want one that sounds foreign, because the American words failed, but short at the same time. I also need a certain... feel into saying it. Since most of my friends picked Japanese names, I went in search for a good one, that also was available. I recently got into an anime called Code Geass, and the main character was hot. XD Nah, really, the truth is that his name had so many ways to say it - one being the pronouciation Rurushu (original name: Lelouch). The name had a nice feeling, and made the URLs feel nice, so it was decided.* Euphemism: the substitution of an agreeable or inoffensive expression for one that may offend or suggest something unpleasant; also : the expression so substituted - Network names are getting tiresome. I'm starting to appreciate just regular site names, so I decided to go with this one. The first word to come in my mind was 'euphemism'. From all the names I gave it before, it didn't truly appeal much, especially with my rather bland sites. The word itself is pretty and nice-sounding, especially compared to the original 'Rebel Faction'. Interestingly enough, this word was my favorite, and only truly memorized one, from my list of vocabulary from my AP courses. Originally, it was called the Ephemerality Network which means a flower, or generally anything, that dies as soon as it is born. It sounded a bit insulting, plus uncreative, so I changed it to the Black Rebellion Network, which was changed again for individuality. The Rebel Faction was also a unique turn to the usual "Network" ring, but alas, it got annoying. It also made little sense with my girly layouts. | |
